Historical center “Ongal” opened its heavy gates for visitors in the month of August 2014 or in year 7522, as the ancient Bulgarians counted the years.

It was created to promote the history of the Bulgarian lands, the nations who have inhabited them and the cultural heritage, which they bequeathed to the living here. Our intention is expressed the best way through the writing on the stone of a Bulgarian ruler nearly 1200 years ago….

“man lives well, he dies and another is born. Let the born later, when looking at this inscription, remember the one who made it.” And the name of the archon is Omurtag Khan syubighi.

The aim is through speech, vision and live reenactments to excite the interest of the Bulgarian and foreign tourists to learn about the history of the ancient and the modern inhabitants of this land. Therefore, the initial information is compressed and reflects only some more curious historical moments, presented understandably, with picture and three-dimentional images. Outside the halls the visitors can touch and take pictures with replicas of ancient weapons and protective clothing. Those, whose interest was provoked, will be offered the opportunity to receive in-depth information on topics of their interest by targeting though:

– Scientific and art historical literature and authors on relevant topics,

– Documentary and fiction films, reflecting the specific event,

– Sites and other media sources.
