Residents and guests of Kavarna now have an opportunity to watch films in 3D. The new cinema theatre is named after the great Bulgarian actor Petar Slabakov.

The state-of-the-art cinema theatre with 3D equipment and a hall for 100 people. The cumulative investment amounted to 290,000 EUR.

Films in Bulgarian and in English with Bulgarian subtitles.

“I believe this to be a significant asset for the young people and especially for the children of Kavarna, as well as for tourists. This is what we were lacking in recent years”, Tsonko Tsonev, the former town mayor, said at the opening of the cinema theatre. The mayor added, “Kavarna did not have a cinema theatre for 12 years, and in order to watch a new film, the town residents would have to go to Varna. Now it is our turn to invite people from the nearby towns and villages to our cinema theatre”.

There is an exposition installed in the foyer in memory of Petar Slabakov which includes his personal possessions, photographs and rewards kindly provided by his son Andrew Slabakov. “I’ll be happy to provide even more belongings if I find them. My father never used to hold on to his medals, rewards and things of this kind, so it might be difficult to retrieve them now. At least, I managed to find over a dozen orders and medals at the Askeer academy.” Andrew says.
